Do I qualify for the OLEV grant?
The OLEV grant is now called the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant, but the eligibility rules are largely the same. Here is a plain-English guide to who qualifies.
Grant renamed, not removed. The OLEV grant was rebranded in 2022 as the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant when the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) became the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). The scheme is still active - the name is the only thing that changed.
Who qualifies?
You are likely eligible if all of the following apply:
- You rent your home (private or social tenant)
- You own a leasehold property such as a flat
- You are a landlord installing chargepoints for tenants
- You are a social housing provider
- You have dedicated off-street parking at the property
Who does not qualify?
You will not be eligible if any of the following apply:
- You own a freehold house - the home grant does not cover owner-occupiers of houses
- You have no off-street parking - on-street installations are not eligible
- You want to install a standard 3-pin socket - only dedicated EV chargepoints qualify
What about homeowners?
If you own a freehold house, you do not qualify for the home grant - but you can still get a home charger installed at a competitive price. Our installers offer free quotes with no obligation. The Workplace Charging Scheme may be available if you run a business.
How much is the grant worth?
The grant covers 75% of the purchase and installation cost of an eligible chargepoint, up to a maximum of £500 per installation. Most standard home charger installs cost £800–£1,200 before the grant, so eligible applicants typically pay £300–£700 after it is applied.
How do I apply?
You do not apply directly - your OZEV-authorised installer handles everything. They confirm your eligibility, apply for the grant on your behalf, and deduct it from your final invoice. You just pay the balance.
