Cost guide

Home EV charger cost UK: what to expect.

A standard home 7kW charger installation typically costs £800-£1,200 in the UK. Here is what affects the price and how to get the best deal.

Typical home charger installation cost

Supply and installation of a 7kW home charge point typically costs £800-£1,200 in the UK. This covers the charger unit itself and all installation labour.

What affects the cost?

  • Distance from fuse board to parking position (longer runs = more cable = more cost)
  • Whether a fuse board upgrade is needed (can add £300-£600)
  • Charger brand and spec (Zappi and Andersen cost more than Pod Point)
  • Whether trenching is needed for underground cable runs
  • Single or three-phase supply

After the OZEV grant

Eligible renters and leasehold flat owners can claim the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant - 75% of cost up to £500. After the grant, the typical net cost is £300-£700. The installer applies the grant and deducts it from your invoice. Learn more about EV charging grants.

Workplace charger costs

Workplace charge points typically cost £800-£2,000 per point depending on spec, number of units, and groundworks. The Workplace Charging Scheme covers up to £350 per socket. Find out more about the Workplace Charging Scheme.
