What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government-backed grant that helps organisations meet the cost of purchasing and installing EV chargepoints. It covers 75% of the total purchase and installation cost, capped at £350 per socket, with a maximum of 40 sockets per applicant. The scheme is open to private businesses, charities, and public authorities across the UK, including those operating in London.

Who is eligible?

The Workplace Charging Scheme is available to a wide range of London organisations with off-street parking for staff or fleet vehicles:

• Private businesses with dedicated off-street parking for employees or fleet vehicles
• Charities and voluntary sector organisations
• Public bodies and local authorities
• NHS trusts and healthcare providers
• Small accommodation businesses such as hotels, guesthouses, and B&Bs

You must use an OZEV-authorised installer to qualify. The installation must not have started before you receive grant approval.

How much can you claim?

The WCS covers 75% of the cost of purchasing and installing each chargepoint socket, up to a maximum of £350 per socket. With a cap of 40 sockets per applicant, the maximum total grant available is £14,000. For a typical London business installing 10 sockets, that means up to £3,500 in grant funding toward what would otherwise be a significant capital outlay.

How to apply

Applications are made through the OZEV online portal before installation begins - you cannot apply retrospectively. Once approved, your OZEV-authorised installer deducts the grant at the point of invoicing, so you only pay the balance. We work exclusively with OZEV-authorised installers who will guide you through the application and handle the grant paperwork on your behalf.
